I am Kimberly A. Copeland, Psy.D., a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 20 years of experience providing evidence-based psychological care to adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including active-duty military members, special operations personnel, veterans, first responders, and civilians navigating life's most complex challenges.

My approach to therapy is grounded in compassion, authenticity, and scientific evidence. I believe every client deserves individualized care that recognizes both their unique strengths and the challenges they face. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, trauma, depression, emotional dysregulation, relationship concerns, life transitions, or the demands of high-performance careers, I work collaboratively with you to build practical skills, resilience, and lasting change.

A significant focus of my career has been the treatment of trauma and emotion regulation using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other evidence-based approaches. I have practiced comprehensive DBT since 1999 and currently lead a multistate DBT consultation team providing affirming care for neurodivergent adolescents and adults. I also developed and lead a comprehensive DBT program supporting Naval Special Warfare personnel, helping individuals perform effectively under extraordinary levels of stress.

In addition to my clinical practice, I have dedicated much of my career to training future psychologists and advancing evidence-based mental health care. As a former faculty member with the Center for Deployment Psychology and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, I trained and supervised psychology interns, postdoctoral fellows, psychiatry residents, nurses, and behavioral health professionals in the treatment of PTSD, trauma, and other complex psychological conditions. I also served as an associate investigator on a Department of Defense-funded clinical trial evaluating evidence-based treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder in active-duty service members.

My educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Biology from James Madison University and master's and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Regent University. I completed advanced doctoral training through the Vanderbilt University VA Medical Center Consortium and postdoctoral specialization working with children and military families in residential treatment settings.

Today, my practice reflects both my clinical expertise and my belief that therapy should be practical, affirming, and tailored to each individual's goals. I integrate evidence-based treatments with a warm, collaborative style that helps clients build insight, strengthen relationships, develop emotional resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change.
